Moving to Muscat we knew that the Summer would be the most challenging time with the soaring temperatures reaching 50 degrees & it is tough, you need to keep jumping in & out of the air conditioning to keep cool. But we knew this & that the Winter would be our time to jump into all the activities & trips that we want to experience however that doesn’t mean we need to spend the Summer cooped up in our air conditioned appartment watching Love Island (we do this every evening instead!)
So with Simon picking up his new car a 4×4 which we decided you definitely need over here for the different terrain, going up the mountains, we fuelled up, grabbed bottles of water & headed out for a day of exploring, with no destination in mind.
We decided to head over the mountains which gave us some amazing views over Muscat but unfortunately there is no where along the way to stop & take any photographs so you will just have to take my word for it, the warm shades of sand & mountains with clusters of which flat roof houses & the iconic Grand Mosque.
Driving along with one of our favourite playlists on, Guardians Of The Galaxy soundtrack, we pulled off the highway headed to a roundabout that actually led nowhere the road literally stopped. Confused but not surprised as we adjust to the Oman way of life we chanced it & went for a bit off roading coming upon a vast open space at the base of the mountains with small villages pocketed around, goats roaming freely, patches of lush greenery that you wouldn’t expect.
As we had no clue of what our day of exploring would include I dressed mainly for the weather which can definitely prove challenging, on my first trip back tot he UK I had a mini shopping spree picking up pieces I knew would be ideal in this weather.
So far these Topshop trousers have been perfect so much so I have also ordered them in Khaki. They are lightweight & flattering, perfect to team with flat sandals or a wedge, I have worn it with a neutral top before & loved the all beige look but for a day exploring in the heat this COS vest top was perfect & I love how in hind-seight it seemed quite fitting with the surrounding scenery.
