Lacock was a village I had read a bit about prior to our trip, it was a village that I had come across a lot on Pinterest for it’s pretty little cottages & village life. But for me there were additional reasons for wanting to visit & the primary reason was Harry Potter, I am the biggest fan since I was a child & even now I still love the magic of it all so when I heard that quite a significant amount of the films had been filmed in Lacock, specifically Lacock Abbey.
The National Trust owns a significant part of the village including the Abbey so we had a chance to explore the home & Abbey seeing where some iconic moments of the films were produced. But it is a beautiful historic home to explore, we were wrapped up warm this orange polo neck from Warehouse caught my eye a few weeks ago & I knew it was the ideal piece to pack for this trip.
Heading into the village we came across a bakery which was exactly what you would imagine from a tiny English village, where everything was homemade from pies to delicious cakes, it’s safe to say we definitely sampled a few. With full tummies we headed back into the village, were we came across a charming cottage that sold homemade jars of jam outside & you put your money through the letter box if you wished to take one home with you.
With the sun shining it was a perfect afternoon to enjoy village life with a local football match taking place, we picked up some delicious hot chocolate from a chocolate cellar shop & sipped it as we continued our walk. Whilst there isn’t a bucket full of things to do it is rather quite nice to simply do nothing. Being wrapped up in my winter knits, rosy cheeks & enjoying village life in the Cotswolds.
