March 2019 Reading List

Okay so honestly life is pretty crazy right now but I have been taking solace in my books, using it as the perfect form of escapism & I have loved it. Plus I have also started listening to more audiobooks which is a great way to enjoy a book when sometimes you simply don’t have the time. Deciding to invest more in my hobby because I simply enjoy it I have decided each month to post what I read the month before & share it with you all. I love reading what other people are reading & as I enjoy such a mix I hope you find something you want to pick up & read.

As always everything that I have read or my whatever I am currently reading I add to my Amazon Shop.

An finally what are you reading I would love your suggestions for next month!

Educated, Tara Westover- Tara Westover has no birth certificate, no school records because she’d never been in a classroom, no medical records because her father didn’t believe in doctors or hospitals an according to the government, she didn’t exist. Her father always believed the world would end & spent his days saving fuel & food, but as Tara grows older, her father became more radical & her brother, more violent. At sixteen Tara decided to educate herself into a world she knows nothing about & where she starts to question all she knows. Review: This book is a memoir not something I usually read & to begin with I didn’t think I would stick with it mainly because at times it really hard to read but I also couldn’t put it down. It makes you question so many aspects of life from a parents love, education, family dynamics. It’s also hard to believe that it’s all true because it’s one of those cases where the truth is stranger than fiction. Entering college having never heard of Holocaust, parents who turn a blind eye to abuse, it honestly felt at times this couldn’t be real but Tara lived it. It stuck with me after I finished it & I definitely recommend it as it opens your eyes & mind to a truly other world.

Circe, Madeline Miller- This is the story of the goddess Circe, Helios’ daughter. Growing up, she is the least favorite daughter with neither the look nor the voice of divinity. No one really knows what to do with her. She ends up getting in trouble with the higher gods until Zeus banishes her to a solitary island. From there, she realizes what she truly is – a witch. Circe refines her craft, fate entwining her with legends: the messenger god, Hermes. The craftsman, Daedalus. As her power increases and her knowledge grows, so Circe must make the ultimate choice: to decide whether she belongs with the deities she is born from, or the mortals she has come to love. Review-
