Hanging Out In My Neighbourhood

Food. I LOVE food, no seriously I love going out to eat whether it be out for brunch with my girlfriends, a Sunday roast with my family or dinner & drinks with Simon. Of a weekend there is nothing more we love than going out to eat & considering we enjoy eating everything from Thai to Tapas. Whether it’s one of our favourite restaurants that we love to go back to as the food is always delicious or even if it’s somewhere new that we just want to try.

A few weeks ago it had been a crazy few days returning from a trip to Johannesburg with work, then flying the next day to Belfast for a fabulous girls weekend away for my best friend Stephanie’s hen/bachelorette party. With it being a whirlwind Simon & I decided to make the most of our day off together & head into Liverpool for some food & drinks.
Neighbourhood is a restaurant that we have both been to before in Liverpool & Manchester but we’ve never actually gone together. I have been for cocktails with the girls as it’s the best spot to sit at the bar & order an have fun deciding what cocktail to start off with, there’s so many that you will be constantly trying new ones, trust me! We decided it was time to visit Neighbourhood together & with the launch of their new ‘Not Going Home’ menu.

Walking into Neighbourhood, located on Castle St is an absolute dream. The building itself was originally a banking hall & it’s simply stunning, like WOW with it’s high ceiling, neon lighting, pink & yellow furniture, graffiti decorated booth, but all pulled together it works. It’s an impressive building to walk into with it’s upmarket setting but it has a relaxed fun charm to it that you soak up, preferably whilst sipping on a cocktail or two.

Settling into our booth with a perfect view over the bar area of the restaurant we dived straight in ordering cocktails off the ‘Not Going Home’ menu & the best bit, all cocktails on the menu are £5 so really it would be rude to say no wouldn’t it. Sticking to what I love, I chose something sweet as you can clearly see from my first choice ‘sugary lips’ which came decorated with chocolate lips, perfect!

With drinks ordered it now came down to the serious business, food. The menu is designed for small plates & honestly we were starving the chocolate lips off my cocktail were gone within seconds after the photograph was taken so we ordered one of each dish off the menu, with each dish £5 it was a great offer to indulge in. An I’m going to be honest I was thinking would that be enough, trust me we were that hungry!

With the dishes arriving as soon as they were ready we tucked in to the array of brasserie style dishes, from mini cheese burgers that were one of my favourites the beef was packed full of flavour, to king prawns which were huge! Mixing it up with a sushi dish to probably the best ravioli I have had in a long time, Simon didn’t get a look in on that dish. But the mix of dishes, all packed with flavour so much it was that tasty you genuinely enjoy each mouthful, yes it was good! An surprisinly we were so full aftewards we definitely wouldn’t be ordering more, well apart from dessert, it would be rude not too! From our pancakes to chocolate bomb which was a feature within itself, the desserts were perfect for sharing & definitely the naughty treat you can indulge in.

It was such a perfect day date, relaxing in such a cool, stunning place where we got to enjoy small tasty dishes & cocktails. The menu name is quite apt I can imagine plenty of people (yes I can include Simon & I in this) not going home after enjoying everything off ‘Not Going Home.’  AA x
