Hottest Spring Lipsticks

By April 4, 2017Beauty, Lifestyle

I’ve always been & I always will be a lipstick girl. I don’t recall being ‘into’ them when I was younger but I do remember my mum always applying lipstick she’s got it down to a fine art & can apply without a mirror & it looks perfect. Since my early twenties, I started delving into lipsticks, adding it into my make-up routine & gradually becoming more confident with colour & I’ve never looked back as now I don’t feel as though my makeup or even outfit is complete without a splash of colour on the lips.

It’s the easiest way of changing my beauty routine without feeling completely overdone, if it’s a normal working day when my makeup is minimal then a dash of colour can look great. I’m lucky that I have full lips so it’s great, but I always then try & keep subtle eye make-up especially when it’s in the day. Adding a dash of colour is also the perfect way to dress up an outfit & to also bring some colour to my face, especially when doing photographs for the blog wearing a colour on my lips always makes such a difference to my face.

Now that we’re officially in Spring I always update my make-up routine, I go for a warmer shade on my tinted moisturiser, change my blusher to a more of a pinky tone. I love topping up my make-up bag with a mix of colours & it’s perfect that Harvey Nichols Beauty Bazaar, has such a wide selection as I love nothing more than jumping from YSL over to Laura Mercier then finishing on Tom Ford & coming away with some new lipsticks.

Laura Mercier, Joie De Vivie: This lipstick oh I loved it as soon as I applied, it’s the dream lipstick. A lot of people tend to associate a red lip with Christmas which yes you can do but you can also do it in Sring/Summer, there is nothing better than with sunkissed skin & adding a touch of red to your lips it’s the perfect colour. I used the matching lip liner which I definitely advise, outlining my lips I then pencilled it in to give me a base, then apply the lipstick. Laura Mercier products are known for their high quality & being easy to apply & this is definitely the case with this lipstick, it is so smooth to apply it feels almost silky on your lips which is great as it helps the lips feel moisturised in the warmer months, I can’t stop wearing it!

YSL, Rouge Pur Couture: One colour that I recommend you try out this season, truly add a dash of colour to your makeup is a hot pink. Now if you’ve not tried one before don’t worry as YSL’s has the perfect shade that you can wear with multiple outfits this Summer. I usually opt for matte lipsticks hence why I picked this lipstick but the plus is it’s creamy & feels lovely to wear – not something that’s the norm when it comes to matte finishes! It is a hot pink so is probably the most ‘out there’ of my favourites. I’d wear matte make-up in the evening with a touch of eyeliner to go with this colour, keep the eyes simple & let the lips do the work.

Tom Ford, Pussycat: The lipstick is for everyone, my mum has been borrowing it & my best friend tried it on last weekend after commenting on it after seeing it on me, it’s an all round winner. Firstly the colour, definitely a cooler, muted pink that has the most beautiful plum undertones so it’s perfect to wear for everyday. The formula is creamy, it is so soft & velvety that it feels almost cushiony when applied & it literally glides effortlessly on the lips. Almost all fully opaque in just one swipe it goes on evenly without sliding around or gathering in the creases of the lips. It is probably are one of the most pigmented lipsticks, so the colour looks full & rich.

Nails Inc, Matchbox: This combination is something different giving you two for one for Summer, yes that’s right if your anything like me then having your nails painted is just as key as having some lip on. So this collaboration with Lottie Tomlinson (makeup artist, Instagram sensation & sister to Louis from 1D) is just what you need especially as it comes in 4 colours so there is something for everyone. But what I particularly liked is that this isn’t a lipstick & it’s not a gloss either, it’s definitely something in the middle which I love as the texture isn’t overly glossy which isn’t always ideal for day to day wear. ‘Mint’ is my favourite for general wear & which anyone can wear it’s a classic dark nude, wanting to vamp it up for a night time look or to embrace a bolder colour palette for Summer then ‘Buzzin’ (pink) or ‘Hell’ (orange/red) are the colours to try out.
