I first came across ‘The Florist’ via Instagram & like a lot of things now a days I head to Instagram to look at new restaurants, hotels, pretty much anything so when ‘The Florist’ Instagram account is as pretty as it is well then that had my attention.
Then came the invitation & like anything first impressions count & boy did this have my excited to head to Liverpool’s newest restaurant for Sunday Roast Dinner & a side of cocktails, well it would be rude not to.
Arriving home after a night time flight from Johannesburg it’s safe to say I was pretty tired, but the thought of food had me right out the door with my new tasseled jacket in tow.
Based on Hardman St, ‘The Florist’ is located in a beautiful Victorian building which is impressive from the outside alone but oh boy wait until you step through those double doors & you enter underneath two blossoms trees with beautiful tea lights hidden in the branches, it’s truly as if you enter the secret garden.
With white washed walls there are burst of colour popping from everywhere you look, floral chandeliers hanging from the high ceilings, flower walls acting as a backdrop with quirky neon slogans, to the fresh flowers decorating delicious cocktails. The Florist is definitely sticking to it’s name & it’s impressive an that’s before we had even got to our table.
Heading upstairs taking my sweet time up the grand staircase that is just far too pretty to walk by, it’s too ‘instagrammable’ to ignore. Seated in the beautiful restaurant with large bay windows letting in natural sunlight bringing a warmth alongside the bursts of colour. With our order for two Roast Dinners placed my cocktail quickly arrived & it was one of the highlights of our lunch, now for a girl who LOVES food trust me that’s a bold statement, but I could drink one right now, Rhubarb & Custard cocktail & it was just as pretty as it tasted. My best friend went a few days after once it officially opened & I received a text simply saying ‘Oh WOW those cocktails’ yep I think she loved them too.
With the cocktails clearly a winner, our Roast Dinners arrived & they were impressive. Simon’s lamb was cooked perfectly pink, whilst my chicken was an impressive half of a chicken, both with Yorkshire puddings so large they nearly covered the plate with fluffy roasties it was the full works. Something that I particularly loved was that you could order sides to go along with your Roast Dinner, from thyme stuffing balls, sweet potato mash it was perfect to add to your roast.
If your not full from your Roast which would be pretty difficult as the portions are more than generous but regardless if your like me & just cannot resist some dessert then what more perfect to enjoy after your Roast Dinner than a pear crumble. With crunchy chunks of crumble, touch of cinnamon & a hefty serving of custard it was superbly sweet & the perfect way to finish off a delicious lunch in Liverpool’s new restaurant.
