I’m not going to lie I love Birthday’s, whether it’s my own or someone else’s. It’s everything from deciding on the gift, I’m a stationer geek so even down to the card, wrapping it up. The day itself I want to know the plans, is it a celebratory Brunch, will we do something different maybe a theme park, the Zoo or getting dressed up & heading out for cocktails & dinner, have I got carried away? Sorry, but you can get the idea now can’t you. So this year when it came to my own birthday I hadn’t really made any plans, your shocked I know. My girlfriends & I had been out the week before for a big night out & that had totally distracted me however I was the lucky girl when my boyfriend surprised me & took me away for the weekend to Bath.
Being from Liverpool the Grand National (horse racing event) is pretty big in the city. I remember from a really young age my Mum & Dad going with a group of their closest friends, all dressed up & making a lovely day of it. As I got older & became more aware of what the event was I noticed that even if I wasn’t going or it was the National Day itself then that’s reason enough to get together with friends & family to enjoy it. I first went when I was 17 & was so excited to finally be going to the Races, looking back I must have looked like a baby but I felt so grown up. Part of going to the Races is picking your outfit & trust me it is no easy job to do, ladies really pull out all the stops.
The world of Social Media can be a crazy place sometimes but we all love it, can you think where we would be without our daily Instagram inspiration feed, sad I know but Instagram is my favourite app! An it just shows you the power of it when through a picture I uploaded of my latest Mulberry purchase, some brogues (what can I say I have a weakness for Mulberry) I received an email from author Jo Piazza inviting me to the launch of her new book, Tech Bitch to be held at the Mulberry store, New Bond St.
It’s been a crazy few weeks hence the lack of posts (apologies all will be revealed over the next few weeks.)
So this weekend to escape the craziness that has been unfolding my boyfriend & I decided to head out for the afternoon.
With my bring pink trousers, tasselled earrings I was set to enjoy some cocktails.
When it comes to fashion there really are no rules, only those that you make for yourself.
T-shirts don’t work on me, I prefer a print to a block colour but now & then it’s refreshing to experiment with your look & bend the rules slightly.
You never know what new looks you may find & love!
Channeling new ways of wearing a classic is always fun & that is definitely the case with this shirt dress.
Everyone can wear a shirt whether it’s for a laid back weekend or off on holiday & this outfit I found was the perfect balance.
