When it comes to shopping do you usually head out knowing what you want, you’ve maybe seen what you want online & have the outfit planned or you maybe know what’s missing from your wardrobe & go out to find it. Or possibly you’re like me & most of the time don’t really know but you just know you want something new, as I am a nightmare for not wearing something more than once especially if it’s for a special occasion.
So considering that I have this tendency to wear certain pieces of my wardrobe only a handful of times, I love it if I can mix & match to get more outfits out of the clothes that I already have & for me there is no better place that helps me make the most of my wardrobe, be creative & pick pieces I may not have considered that Topshop Personal Shopper service.
Those of you who are regular readers of AbigailAlice or follow me on Instagram will know that the Topshop Personal Shopper is a service that I have used countless times before as I quite simply love it & have so much fun, so much so I wanted to take my best friend along to the Oxford Circus store for the ultimate girls shopping experience.
Now the first thing that I want to say is that booking an appointment with Personal Shopping is totally free, yes that’s right & there is no minimum spend. We’ve both got a few busy weeks coming up as Stephanie is getting married so plenty of outfits are needed, with my new job I’ve found that I haven’t picked up many Winter pieces as I haven’t been home much to wear them so I need a wardrobe update & some special pieces so with this in mind we sent our brief off to Topshop. This is where you let the lovely personal shopper ladies know what you are looking for, Stephanie wanted some new knits, & dresses that had some subtle colours as she tends to wear quite a lot of black. I wanted some simple pieces that I could wear out to lunch & the same outfit out for drinks, where I was able to do some mix & matching.
Arriving at Topshop we were whisked away into the Personal Shopper suite which is basically every girls’ dream with mirrored walls, velvet couches with mountains of fluffy cushions, their latest pieces decorating the walls tempting you, oh & the champagne & cupcakes they were tempting & also delicious. Settled into our private changing room we met the lovely Lauren our personal shopper for the day who had already followed our briefs & pulled together a collection & array of footwear for Stephanie & I.
All of the clothes are displayed as complete outfits with accompanying jewellery, footwear & handbags, yes they don’t miss anything off & Lauren pulled us so many wonderfully exciting pieces, explaining to us why she’d chosen them & advised us on what they would be great to wear them with, how to swop & change them around with other items she’d selected. Some of the pieces we were so excited to try on mainly the most obvious ones, for me there was a sequin dress that I loved but what I honestly love the most about the personal shopping experience is that you genuinely end up loving other pieces that you would have walked right past in the store & they are the outfits that I am most excited to share with you.
Considering Stephanie & I have different styles we both agreed that we loved seeing what Lauren had pulled for each of us as there were pieces (the boots in-particular) that we both absolutely loved! We even ended up buying the same perfect Winter navy cable knit polo, mine was teamed with the red polka dot skirt & Stephanie’s with cigarette trousers, so it just shows you how you can create different looks.
It was the perfect girls trip, we spent three hours in complete shopping heaven. Coming away with arms full of shopping bags but the best bit, they were full of clothes that we couldn’t wait to wear. I had come away with skirts in shapes & prints I would never usually have picked up but worked so well, the perfect red boots that I have been looking for & finally found, whilst Stephanie came away with a stunning dress that she very nearly left the store in. We had the ultimate girls afternoon & such fun chatting with Lauren picking out new pieces for our wardrobes, my favourite looks will be up on the blog next week! AA x
